- Not quite. ChatGPT is a chat box, not a place to keep notes - and it won't reliably remember something you wrote in another thread three weeks ago. Afternote is built to search across everything you've written, and it answers from your notes with a citation instead of guessing. If the answer isn't in your notes, it tells you.

- Does Afternote read my notes to answer questions?
- Yes - that's the point. Ask retrieves the relevant notes you wrote and answers from them, citing the source. Chat is query-only: it doesn't save its answers back as new notes, and your notes are never used to train AI models.
- Is my data private and secure?
- Your notes are yours. They're never used to train models and never sold. Afternote is built by a security engineer, so security comes before speed - open-source dependencies with critical vulnerabilities are blocked before they ship.
